About Us
Legacy Dance & Gymnastics began in North Platte, Nebraska in the fall of 2004. It has been growing steadily and is constantly stretching and changing to meet the needs of the families we work with. It began as The Stage Christian Dance Studio and grew 4 years ago when we stepped out in faith and purchased Starz Gymnastics. After a couple years we merged the 2 together as Legacy Dance & Gymnastics. We are in our 14th year and are incredibly excited to see where God takes us this year!
Currently we offer classes in many different styles including our core Basic Classes that are set according to age group and designed for the dancers to be comfortable among their friends and have fun while learning a variety of styles with jazz, lyrical and hip hop combined and tap offered as an add on. We have our ballet line up with Mini Ballet (5 & 6 year olds), Junior Ballet (7-11year olds), Intermediate Ballet (11 & Up) and Senior Ballet (13 & Up with teacher approval) and our pre-pointe/pointe classes. Specialty classes include Jr, Int and Sr Jazz, Mini Hip Hop, Jr Hip Hop, Int Hip Hop, Sr Hip Hop, Jr Lyrical, Int Lyrical, Sr Lyrical and our C.R.A.M. (Coordination, Rhythm And Movement) classes for 2-5 year olds. We are introducing our new non-performance technique classes in Ballet and Lyrical as well as keeping our Boys Class (8 & Up specializing in Tap & Hip Hop). Our Dance Team is an audition only class that travels, competes and represents Legacy at events. We have added an Acrobatic Arts program along with our Cheer program and our Competitive Gymnastics Teams.
Legacy Dance is designed to provide a fun, learning environment for dancers whether they want to just have a class a week because they enjoy it or they are interested in pursuing a career in dance and they take every class offered to them. We approach dance from a Christian perspective using a lot of Christian music, modesty in what we wear and keeping God at the center of what we do.
At Legacy we feel it is important to be exposed to different styles and instructors so we bring in special instructors and choreographers from all over the country to offer workshops for our students. These are open to any dancers wishing to learn more and challenge themselves. In 2012 we had Ballet Emmanuel from Colorado Springs in April, Dance Revolution from Dallas (with an instructor from Dallas and an instructor from LA) in April,
Elevation from Denver (with 3 amazing instructors) in July. We had a trip to Denver to the NRG Convention and a trip to Rapid City to a workshop with dancers from NYC. In 2013 we have had Ballet Emmanuel in January with our trip to NRG in Denver and also to Kansas City in March, Vertical Movement was here in April, Dance Revolution was here May 31 & June 1, Peterson from Striker's All Stars (ABDC) was here in June and returned in September with Starkesha Brown! Elevation was back in August along with a second visit from Vertical Movement in October (4 & 5). In 2014 we have already traveled to Omaha for a Rubix Crew workshop and then had them travel here to North Platte for a workshop. We went to Chicago with almost 20 dancers for the Dance Revolution Convention and Showcase on Valentine's Day Weekend and then had a trip to Denver for the NRG Convention and Competition in March. We hosted the 3rd annual LA 2 NE Convention with 4 dancers from LA coming here to North Platte - it was amazing! 2017-2018 has included LA2NE in North Platte in Nov, Adrenaline in Kansas City in Dec, Dance Revolution in Colorado Springs in Jan, NRG in Omaha in March and Adrenaline in Denver in April.
